Chapter 115 | Currency Exchange

31- عَلِيُّ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنِ ابْنِ أَبِي نَجْرَانَ عَنْ عَاصِمِ بْنِ حُمَيْدٍ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ قَيْسٍ عَنْ أَبِي جَعْفَرٍ قَالَ قَالَ أَمِيرُ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ لا يَبْتَاعُ رَجُلٌ فِضَّةً بِذَهَبٍ إِلا يَداً بِيَدٍ وَلا يَبْتَاعُ ذَهَباً بِفِضَّةٍ إِلا يَداً بِيَدٍ.

31. Ali ibn Ibrahim has narrated from his father from ibn abu Najran from ‘Asim ibn Humayd from Muhammad ibn Qays who has said the following: “Abu Ja‘far , has said that ’Amir al-Mu’minin has said, ‘One must not sell silver for gold unless it is in a hand in hand deal; and gold is not sold in exchange for silver unless it is in a hand in hand deal.’”
