The Sufficient (Vol 6) · Hadith 1025 (#Ḥadīth #1)

أَبُو عَلِيٍّ الْأَشْعَرِيُّ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الْجَبَّارِ عَنْ صَفْوَانَ بْنِ يَحْيَى عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ مُسْكَانَ عَنْ مُحَمَّدٍ الْحَلَبِيِّ قَالَ سَأَلْتُ أَبَا عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ( عليه السلام ) عَنْ هَذِهِ الْآيَةِ لَيْسَ عَلَيْكُمْ جُناحٌ أَنْ تَأْكُلُوا مِنْ بُيُوتِكُمْ أَوْ بُيُوتِ آبائِكُمْ إِلَى آخِرِ الْآيَةِ قُلْتُ مَا يَعْنِي بِقَوْلِهِ أَوْ صَدِيقِكُمْ قَالَ هُوَ وَ اللَّهِ الرَّجُلُ يَدْخُلُ بَيْتَ صَدِيقِهِ فَيَأْكُلُ بِغَيْرِ إِذْنِهِ .

1. Abu Ali al-Ash‘ariy has narrated from Muhammad ibn ‘Abd al-Jabbar from Safwan ibn Yahya from ‘Abd Allah ibn Muskan from Muhammad al-Halabiy who has said the following: “I once asked abu ’Abd Allah , about this verse, ’It is not unlawful for you to eat in your houses, in the houses of your fathers. . . (24:61) and I asked what is the meaning of, ‘or your friend’?’ He (the Imam) said, ‘That by Allah is the house of his friend where he can eat without his permission.’”
