Chapter 132 | The Toothpick

مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَحْيَى عَنْ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ مُحَمَّدٍ عَنْ إِبْرَاهِيمَ الْحَذَّاءِ عَنْ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ الْأَسَدِيِّ عَنْ رَجُلٍ عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ( عليه السلام ) قَالَ نَاوَلَ النَّبِيُّ ( صلى الله عليه وآله ) جَعْفَرَ بْنَ أَبِي طَالِبٍ ( عليه السلام ) خِلَالًا فَقَالَ لَهُ يَا جَعْفَرُ تَخَلَّلْ فَإِنَّهُ مَصْلَحَةٌ لِلْفَمِ أَوْ قَالَ لِلِّثَةِ وَ مَجْلَبَةٌ لِلرِّزْقِ .

4. Muhammad ibn Yahya has narrated from Ahmad ibn Muhammad from Ibrahim al-Hadhdha’ from Ahmad ibn ‘Abd Allah al-Asadiy from a man who has said the following: “Abu ‘Abd Allah , has said that the Messenger of Allah, O Allah, grant compensation to Muhammad and his family worthy of their services to Your cause, once gave a toothpick to Ja‘far ibn abu Talib , and said, ‘O Ja‘far use a toothpick. It is beneficial for the mouth ’ or he said, ‘It is beneficial for the gums and attracts sustenance.’”
