The Sufficient (Vol 6) · Hadith 1585 (#Ḥadīth #2)

أَبُو عَلِيٍّ الْأَشْعَرِيُّ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الْجَبَّارِ وَ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَحْيَى عَنْ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ مُحَمَّدٍ جَمِيعاً عَنِ ابْنِ فَضَّالٍ عَنْ ثَعْلَبَةَ بْنِ مَيْمُونٍ عَنْ عُبَيْدِ بْنِ زُرَارَةَ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ أَبَا عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ( عليه السلام ) يَقُولُ وَ ذَكَرَ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ( صلى الله عليه وآله ) فَقَالَ اللَّهُمَّ إِنَّكَ تَعْلَمُ أَنَّهُ أَحَبُّ إِلَيْنَا مِنَ الْآبَاءِ وَ الْأُمَّهَاتِ وَ الْمَاءِ الْبَارِدِ .

2. Abu Ali al-Ash‘ariy has narrated from Muhammad ibn ‘Abd al-Jabbar and Muhammad ibn Yahya has narrated from Ahmad ibn Muhammad all from ibn Faddal from Tha’labah ibn Maymun from ‘Ubayd ibn Zurarah who has said the following: “I once heard abu ‘Abd Allah , saying, upon mentioning the Messenger of Allah, O Allah, grant compensation to Muhammad and his family worthy of their services to Your cause, ‘O Lord, You know that he (the Messenger of Allah) is more beloved to us than (our) fathers and mothers and cool water.’”
