The Sufficient (Vol 6) · Hadith 1610 (#Ḥadīth #3)

عِدَّةٌ مِنْ أَصْحَابِنَا عَنْ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ أَبِي عَبْدِ اللَّهِ عَنْ يَعْقُوبَ بْنِ يَزِيدَ عَنِ ابْنِ عَمٍّ لِعُمَرَ بْنِ يَزِيدَ عَنْ بِنْتِ عُمَرَ بْنِ يَزِيدَ عَنْ أَبِيهَا عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ( عليه السلام ) قَالَ إِذَا شَرِبَ أَحَدُكُمُ الْمَاءَ فَقَالَ بِسْمِ اللَّهِ ثُمَّ شَرِبَ ثُمَّ قَطَعَهُ فَقَالَ الْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ ثُمَّ شَرِبَ فَقَالَ بِسْمِ اللَّهِ ثُمَّ قَطَعَهُ فَقَالَ الْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ ثُمَّ شَرِبَ فَقَالَ بِسْمِ اللَّهِ ثُمَّ قَطَعَهُ فَقَالَ الْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ سَبَّحَ ذَلِكَ الْمَاءُ لَهُ مَا دَامَ فِي بَطْنِهِ إِلَى أَنْ يَخْرُجَ .

3. A number of our people have narrated from Ahmad ibn abu ‘Abd Allah from Ya‘qub ibn Yazid from the son of uncle of ‘Umar ibn Yazid from daughter of ‘Umar ibn Yazid from her father who has said the following: “Abu ‘Abd Allah , has stated this Hadith. ‘If one of you drinks water, and says , ‘In the name of Allah,’ then drinks, then stops and say, ‘All praise belongs to Allah,’ He then drinks and says, ‘In the name of Allah’ then stops, and says, ‘All praise belongs to Allah’ then drinks and says, ‘In the name of Allah’ then stops and says, ‘All praise belongs to Allah,’ that water keeps saying Tasbih (Allah is free of all defects) for him as long as it is in his belly until it goes out.’”
