Chapter 21 | The Messenger of Allah, O Allah , grant compensation to Muhammad and his family worthy of their services to Your cause , has Prohibited all Intoxicating Liquor of a Small or Large Quantity
عِدَّةٌ مِنْ أَصْحَابِنَا عَنْ سَهْلِ بْنِ زِيَادٍ وَ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَحْيَى عَنْ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ مُحَمَّدٍ جَمِيعاً عَنْ عَلِيِّ بْنِ الْحَكَمِ عَنْ أَبِي الْمَغْرَاءِ عَنْ عُمَرَ بْنِ حَنْظَلَةَ قَالَ قُلْتُ لِأَبِي عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ( عليه السلام ) مَا تَرَى فِي قَدَحٍ مِنْ مُسْكِرٍ يُصَبُّ عَلَيْهِ الْمَاءُ حَتَّى تَذْهَبَ عَادِيَتُهُ وَ يَذْهَبَ سُكْرُهُ فَقَالَ لَا وَ اللَّهِ وَ لَا قَطْرَةٌ تَقْطُرُ مِنْهُ فِي حُبٍّ إِلَّا أُهَرِيقَ ذَلِكَ الْحُبُّ .
15. A number of our people have narrated from Sahl ibn Ziyad and Muhammad ibn Yahya has narrated from Ahmad ibn Muhammad all from Ali ibn al-Hakam from abu al-Mighra’ from ‘Umar ibn Hanzalah who has said the following: “I once asked abu ‘Abd Allah , about the case of a cup of intoxicating liquor on which water is poured until its bad effect is gone and also its intoxicating effect. He (the Imam) said, ‘No, by Allah, even if one drop of it is dropped in a hub (a large water container) the whole hub must be thrown out.’”
