Chapter 22 | Wine is Prohibited because of its Effects; whatever has an Effect as the Effect of Wine, it is Wine

5. A number of our people have narrated from Sahl ibn Ziyad from Mu’awiyah ibn Hakim from abu Malik al-Hadramiy from abu al- Jarud who has said the following: “I once asked abu Ja‘far , about al-Nabidh; if it is wine. He (the Imam) said, ‘Whatever upon drinking is more pleasurable than not drinking, it is wine.’”
