The Sufficient (Vol 6) · Hadith 2219 (#Ḥadīth #32)

علي بن إبراهيم، عن أبيه، عن حمادبن عيسى، عن ربعي بن عبدالله، عن محمد بن مسلم قال: سألت أبا جعفر عليه السلام أكان أمير المؤمنين عليه السلام ينهى عن قراء‌ة القرآن في الحمام؟ قال: لا إنما نهى أن يقرء الرجل وهو عريان فأما إذا كان عليه إزار فلا بأس.

32. Ali ibn Ibrahim has narrated from his father from Hammad ibn ‘Isa from ‘Rib‘iy ibn ‘ Abd Allah from Muhammad ibn Muslim who has said the following: “I once asked Abu Ja‘far , if ’Amir al-Mu’minin prohibited reading al-Quran in a bathhouse. He (the Imam) said, ’No, however, he prohibited reading while nude but if one has a loincloth on him, then it is not harmful.
