Chapter 65 | Decorating the Houses
مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَحْيَى عَنْ أَحْمَدَ وَ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ابْنَيْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عِيسَى عَنْ عَلِيِّ بْنِ الْحَكَمِ عَنْ أَبَانِ بْنِ عُثْمَانَ عَنْ أَبِي الْعَبَّاسِ عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ( عليه السلام ) فِي قَوْلِ اللَّهِ عَزَّ وَ جَلَّ يَعْمَلُونَ لَهُ ما يَشاءُ مِنْ مَحارِيبَ وَ تَماثِيلَ فَقَالَ وَ اللَّهِ مَا هِيَ تَمَاثِيلَ الرِّجَالِ وَ النِّسَاءِ وَ لَكِنَّهَا الشَّجَرُ وَ شِبْهُهُ .
7. Muhammad ibn Yahya has narrated from Ahmad and ‘Abd Allah sons of Muhammad ibn ‘Isa from Ali ibn al-Hakam from Aban ibn ‘Uthman from abu al-‘Abbas who has said the following: “About the meaning of the words of Allah, most Majestic, most Glorious, ‘. . . they made for him whatever he wanted like prayer niche, statues . . .’ (34:12) abu ‘Abd Allah, Alayhi al-Salam, has said, ‘They (statues) by Allah were not the statues of man and women, they, however, were of trees and similar things.’”
