The Sufficient (Vol 6) · Hadith 2372 (#Ḥadīth #6)

عِدَّةٌ مِنْ أَصْحَابِنَا عَنْ سَهْلِ بْنِ زِيَادٍ عَنْ جَعْفَرِ بْنِ بَشِيرٍ عَنِ الْحُسَيْنِ بْنِ زُرَارَةَ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ مُسْلِمٍ قَالَ قَالَ أَبُو عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ( عليه السلام ) ابْنِ بَيْتَكَ سَبْعَةَ أَذْرُعٍ فَمَا كَانَ فَوْقَ ذَلِكَ سَكَنَهُ الشَّيَاطِينُ إِنَّ الشَّيَاطِينَ لَيْسَتْ فِي السَّمَاءِ وَ لَا فِي الْأَرْضِ وَ إِنَّمَا تَسْكُنُ الْهَوَاءَ .

6. A number of our people have narrated from Sahl ibn Ziyad from Ja‘far ibn Bashir from Al-Husayn Zurarah from Muhammad ibn Muslim who has said the following: “Abu ‘Abd Allah , has said, ‘Build your house seven yards high; anything higher than this becomes residence of Satans. Satans do not live in the sky or on earth. They live in the air.’”
