Chapter 10 | Names and Titles
عَلِيُّ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنْ جَعْفَرِ بْنِ مُحَمَّدٍ الْأَشْعَرِيِّ عَنِ ابْنِ الْقَدَّاحِ عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ( عليه السلام ) قَالَ جَاءَ رَجُلٌ إِلَى النَّبِيِّ ( صلى الله عليه وآله ) فَقَالَ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ وُلِدَ لِي غُلَامٌ فَمَا ذَا أُسَمِّيهِ قَالَ سَمِّهِ بِأَحَبِّ الْأَسْمَاءِ إِلَيَّ حَمْزَةَ .
9. Ali ibn Ibrahim has narrated from his father from Ja‘far ibn Muhammad al-Ash‘ariy from ibn al-Qaddah who has said the following: “Abu ‘Abd Allah , has said that once a man came to the Holy Prophet, O Allah, grant compensation to Muhammad and his family worthy of their services to Your cause, and said, ‘O Messenger of Allah, a son is born to me. What must I name him?’ He (the Messenger of Allah) said, ‘Name him with the name which is most beloved to me; Hamzah.’”
