The Sufficient (Vol 6) · Hadith 709 (#Ḥadīth #5)

الْحُسَيْنُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ عَنْ مُعَلَّى بْنِ مُحَمَّدٍ عَنِ الْحَسَنِ بْنِ عَلِيٍّ عَنْ أَبَانِ بْنِ عُثْمَانَ عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ أَبِي عَبْدِ اللَّهِ قَالَ سَأَلْتُ أَبَا عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ( عليه السلام ) عَنْ رَجُلٍ أَرْسَلَ بَازَهُ أَوْ كَلْبَهُ فَأَخَذَ صَيْداً وَ أَكَلَ مِنْهُ آكُلُ مِنْ فَضْلِهِمَا فَقَالَ لَا مَا قَتَلَ الْبَازِي فَلَا تَأْكُلْ مِنْهُ إِلَّا أَنْ تَذْبَحَهُ .

Al-Husayn from Muhammad has narrated from Mu‘alla’ ibn Muhammad from al-Hassan ibn Ali from Aban ibn ‘Uthman from ‘Abd al-Rahman ibn abu ‘Abd Allah who has said the following: “I once asked abu ‘Abd Allah , about the case of a man who sends his falcon or dog to catch a prey which then catches a prey and eats thereof; if he can use the remaining for food. He (the Imam) said, ‘No, do not use for food what the falcon kills, unless you slaughter it properly.’”
