The Sufficient (Vol 6) · Hadith 756 (#Ḥadīth #3)

مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَحْيَى عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ مُحَمَّدٍ عَنْ عَلِيِّ بْنِ الْحَكَمِ عَنْ أَبَانٍ عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ سَيَابَةَ قَالَ سَأَلْتُ أَبَا عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ( عليه السلام ) عَنِ السَّمَكِ يُصَادُ ثُمَّ يُجْعَلُ فِي شَيْءٍ ثُمَّ يُعَادُ إِلَى الْمَاءِ فَيَمُوتُ فِيهِ فَقَالَ لَا تَأْكُلْهُ .

3. Muhammad ibn Yahya has narrated from ‘Abd Allah ibn Muhammad from Ali ibn al-Hakam from Aban from ‘Abd al- Rahman ibn Sayabah who has said the following: “I once asked abu ‘Abd Allah , about fish which is caught, then placed in something but it returns into the water and dies in it. He (the Imam) said, ‘Do not use it for food.”’
