Chapter 13 | Locusts

مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَحْيَى عَنِ الْعَمْرَكِيِّ بْنِ عَلِيٍّ عَنْ عَلِيِّ بْنِ جَعْفَرٍ عَنْ أَخِيهِ أَبِي الْحَسَنِ ( عليه السلام ) قَالَ سَأَلْتُهُ عَنِ الْجَرَادِ نُصِيبُهُ مَيِّتاً فِي الصَّحْرَاءِ أَوْ فِي الْمَاءِ أَ يُؤْكَلُ فَقَالَ لَا تَأْكُلْهُقَالَ وَ سَأَلْتُهُ ( عليه السلام ) عَنِ الدَّبَا مِنَ الْجَرَادِ أَ يُؤْكَلُ قَالَ لَا حَتَّى يَسْتَقِلَّ بِالطَّيَرَانِ .

3. Muhammad ibn Yahya has narrated from al-‘Amrakiy from Ali ibn Ja‘far from his brother, (abu al-Hassan ) who has said the following: “I once asked abu al-Hassan , about al-Jarad (locust) that we find dead in the wilderness or in water; if it can be used for food. He (the Imam) said, ‘Do not use them for food . 5 I then asked him (the Imam) about al-Daba’, which is a kind of al-Jarad, if it can be used for food . 5 He (the Imam) said, ‘No, until it is independent in flying ."
