Chapter 2 | Another Chapter on the above Subject in an Emergency

عَلِيُّ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنِ ابْنِ أَبِي عُمَيْرٍ عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ الْحَجَّاجِ قَالَ سَأَلْتُ أَبَا إِبْرَاهِيمَ ( عليه السلام ) عَنِ الْمَرْوَةِ وَ الْقَصَبَةِ وَ الْعُودِ أَ يُذْبَحُ بِهِنَّ إِذَا لَمْ يَجِدُوا سِكِّيناً قَالَ إِذَا فَرَى الْأَوْدَاجَ فَلَا بَأْسَ بِذَلِكَ .

2. Ali ibn Ibrahim has narrated from his father from ibn abu ‘Um ay r from ‘Abd al-Rahman ibn al-Hajj aj who has said the following: “I once asked abu Ibrahim , if slaughtering with stone, sharp reeds, and wood when a knife cannot be found is acceptable. He (the Imam) said, ‘If they can cut the jugular veins it is not unlawful.’” Abu Ali al-Ash‘ariy has narrated from Muhammad ibn ‘Abd al-Jabbar from Safwan ibn Yahya from ‘Abd al-Rahman ibn al-Hajj aj from abu Ibrahim , a similar Hadith.
