Chapter 14 | Al-’Aqiqah and its Being Obligatory

مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَحْيَى عَنْ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ مُحَمَّدٍ عَنْ عَلِيِّ بْنِ الْحَكَمِ عَنْ عَلِيِّ بْنِ أَبِي حَمْزَةَ عَنِ الْعَبْدِ الصَّالِحِ ( عليه السلام ) قَالَ الْعَقِيقَةُ وَاجِبَةٌ إِذَا وُلِدَ لِلرَّجُلِ وَلَدٌ فَإِنْ أَحَبَّ أَنْ يُسَمِّيَهُ مِنْ يَوْمِهِ فَعَلَ .

1. Muhammad ibn Yahya has narrated from Ahmad ibn Muhammad from Ali ibn al-Hakam from Ali ibn abu Hamzah from the virtuous servant (of Allah) , who has said the following: “He (the virtuous servant of Allah, the Imam) , has said, ‘ ‘Aqiqah is obligatory when a child is born to one, and if he likes to give him a name on that day he can do so.’”
