The Sufficient (Vol 6) · Hadith 882 (#Ḥadīth #6)

عِدَّةٌ مِنْ أَصْحَابِنَا عَنْ سَهْلِ بْنِ زِيَادٍ عَنِ ابْنِ أَبِي نَجْرَانَ عَنْ عَاصِمِ بْنِ حُمَيْدٍ عَنْ أَبِي سَهْلٍ الْقُرَشِيِّ قَالَ سَأَلْتُ أَبَا عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ( عليه السلام ) عَنْ لَحْمِ الْكَلْبِ فَقَالَ هُوَ مَسْخٌ قُلْتُ هُوَ حَرَامٌ قَالَ هُوَ نَجَسٌ أُعِيدُهَا عَلَيْهِ ثَلَاثَ مَرَّاتٍ كُلَّ ذَلِكَ يَقُولُ هُوَ نَجَسٌ.

6. A number of our people have narrated from Sahl ibn Ziyad from ibn abu Najran from ‘Asem ibn Hamid from abu Sahl al-Qarashiy who has said the following: “I once asked abu ‘Abd Allah , about the flesh of dogs. He (the Imam) said, ‘It is metamorphosed.’ I asked, ‘Is it unlawful for food?’ He (the Imam) said, ‘It is Najis (unclean). I repeat it three times for you and each one says it is Najis (unclean).”’
