Chapter 18 | Eating Clay
عِدَّةٌ مِنْ أَصْحَابِنَا عَنْ سَهْلِ بْنِ زِيَادٍ عَنِ ابْنِ فَضَّالٍ عَنِ ابْنِ الْقَدَّاحِ عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ( عليه السلام ) قَالَ قِيلَ لِأَمِيرِ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ ( عليه السلام ) فِي رَجُلٍ يَأْكُلُ الطِّينَ فَنَهَاهُ فَقَالَ لَا تَأْكُلْهُ فَإِنْ أَكَلْتَهُ وَ مِتَّ كُنْتَ قَدْ أَعَنْتَ عَلَى نَفْسِكَ .
5. A number of our people have narrated from Sahl ibn Ziyad from ibn Faddal from ibn al-Qaddah who has said the following: “About the case of a man who ate clay ’Amir al-Mu’minin , prohibited and said, ‘Do not eat clay; if you eat clay and die, you have helped to murder yourself.’”
