Chapter 1 | The Undesirability of Swearing

4. A number of our people have narrated from Ahmad ibn Muhammad ibn Khalid from Yahya ibn Ibrahim from his father from abu Salam al-Salam al-Muta‘abbid who has said the following: “I once heard abu ‘Abd Allah , saying to Sadir, ‘O Sadir, one who swears by Allah, most Majestic, most Glorious, falsely as well as one who swears by Allah truthfully has sinned; Allah, most Majestic, most Glorious, says, ‘Do not swear by Allah, unless you are obligated.’ (2:224)”
