Virtues of the Shīʿa · Hadith 42 (#Ḥadīth #42)

وبهذا الاسناد، عن الحسن بن عليّ، عن عليّ بن عقبة، عن موسى النميري، عن أبي عبد الله عليه السلام قال: أتى رسول الله صلّى الله عليه وآله رجل، فقال: يا رسول الله، إنّي لاحبّك. فقال: إنّك لتحبّني؟ فقال: والله إنّي لاحبّك. فقال رسول الله صلّى الله عليه وآله : أنت مع من أحببت.

(The same previous series of relaters)… from al-Hasan bin Ali from Ali bin Aqaba from Musa an-Numayri that Abu Abdullah said: A man came to the Prophet (s) and said: "O Allah’s Messenger, I do like you." He (s) asked: "Do you really like me?" The man said: "By Allah I swear, I love you." The Prophet (s) said: "You will be with whomever you like."
