COMIAC is the third of the OIC's sectoral standing committees, chaired by the President of Senegal, and charged with coordinating information and cultural affairs among member states.

Created in 1981 alongside the committees on science and trade, COMIAC is headed by the President of Senegal and tasked with coordinating the media, information and cultural policies of the OIC membership — from cooperation among national news agencies and broadcasters to the presentation of the Muslim world in international media. In practice it has generally been the least prominent and least active of the three standing committees.
Its work has touched on media exchange, the countering of what member states regard as misrepresentation, and cooperation in the cultural field, overlapping with the broader cultural mandate of ICESCO. The three committees together — COMSTECH, COMCEC and COMIAC — distribute the OIC's sectoral coordination among science, economics and culture, each anchored to a chairing head of state.
COMIAC's relatively limited activity is often cited as an example of the gap between the OIC's broad institutional architecture and its practical reach.
