SESRIC is the OIC's statistical and socio-economic research centre — in effect the principal data hub and policy think tank of the Muslim-majority world.

Based in Ankara and established in 1978, the Statistical, Economic and Social Research and Training Centre for Islamic Countries collects and harmonises statistics across the OIC membership, publishes economic and social research, and runs training and capacity-building programmes for member-state institutions. In a bloc whose members vary enormously in wealth and administrative capacity, its work of gathering comparable data is a quiet but foundational service.
SESRIC produces regular outlook reports on the economies of the OIC states, thematic studies on issues from poverty and health to science and food security, and databases that other OIC bodies draw upon. It also coordinates networks that link the national statistical offices, central banks and health and education ministries of member states.
As the analytical backbone of the OIC system, SESRIC underpins the planning of bodies such as the Islamic Development Bank and the standing committee on trade, COMCEC.
