Quran Living

Content & corrections

What Quran Living is and is not, how its accuracy is maintained, and how to report something that is wrong.

Offered to the best of our knowledge — please verify.

Everything on Quran Living is compiled to the best of the contributors' knowledge, and should not be taken as established fact. It is a research and study aid — not a source of religious rulings, and not a replacement for the guidance of trustworthy, knowledgeable scholars (ʿulamāʾ). Always confirm matters of belief and practice with them.

Verifying before you accept, and not asserting what you do not know, are the Qur'ān's own instructions —

How we try to be accurate

Where the tradition holds more than one position

We attribute. We do not adjudicate. That is the whole editorial rule, and it is worth stating plainly rather than leaving to be inferred, because it is the thing most likely to be misread from a screenshot.

If you think a position has been represented unfairly — yours or anyone's — that is a correction we want, and the same route below applies. Show us the place and the evidence.

But mistakes can still happen

Despite these safeguards, the corpus is large and drawn from many sources. Transcription errors, mis-attributions, translation choices, missing context, or outdated information may remain. Nothing here should be taken as definitive without checking the underlying evidence and consulting scholars.

Why we say this

The instruction to check before accepting, and not to assert what you do not know, is not our editorial policy — it is the Qur'ān's. These are the āyāt this notice rests on; each opens in the reader with its translations and tafsīr.

Found a mistake? Point it out

If you find anything that is incorrect, mis-attributed, or not soundly evidence-based, we want to know. We are not asking you to take on a review role or to vouch for the site — just show us the error and the evidence, and we will correct it.

What makes a report we can act on:

A report without a citation is still worth sending. A report without a location is very hard to act on, because the corpus runs to tens of thousands of pages.

Every report is checked against the cited sources. Where a correction is made, the change is applied to the underlying data, so it propagates everywhere that passage appears rather than being patched on one page.
